The Challenge
Untold Stories: Hair on Set set out to expose an often-overlooked issue within the film and television industry: the lack of knowledge, training, and resources around Black hair on set. For many actors, this wasn’t just an inconvenience but a recurring barrier to dignity, professionalism, and equal opportunity. The challenge was to bring these lived experiences to a national audience in a way that was honest, balanced, and impossible to ignore.
The Approach & Impact
Partnering with Sky TV, we approached the film through lived testimony and carefully shaped storytelling. By creating space for contributors to speak openly and pairing those accounts with considered framing, the documentary maintained both emotional intimacy and editorial credibility. The result was a BAFTA-nominated film that sparked industry-wide reflection, amplified underrepresented voices, and contributed meaningfully to ongoing conversations about standards and inclusion on set.
